Abstract The ability of an organization to apply knowledge globally has been conceptualized as critical for the existence of multinational corporations (MNCs). We argue for an organizational separation effect on knowledge sharing that challenges the view of the MNC as a latent social community. Using a unique data-set of more than 4000 individual responses from an MNC, Telenor, we test how three types of drivers for individuals’ knowledge sharing – individuals’ motivation, and individuals’ perceptions of organizational values and organizational work practices – work differently within, as opposed to across, business units. Discrepancy between individual and organizational values : occupational burnout and work engagement among white-collar workers

Abstract This pilot study aimed to investigate the level of discrepancy between individual and organizational values, and assessed its impact on white-collar workers' job burnout and work engagement. The study examined the hypothesis that the better the fit between individual and organizational values, the higher the work engagement and the lower the risk of professional burnout. The modified Schwartz's typology of values, focusing on work related issues, was used as a framework for the study.
